Decorating Austyn's Room

This was probably by far one of my favorite rooms to decorate in our house! It is a constant work in progress...

When we bought the house last fall, this room was a BRIGHT pink color. We decided on white as our base at first because we weren't quite sure what Austyn would want for his decorations. Good thing- because we have many themes!

Cowboys/Farm
DENVER BRONCOS
Camping/Hunting
Tools
Pixar's Car Movie

I love things to be themed and consistent, so at first it was hard for me, but now I love it. Every part of it fits this little guys personality so well. He wouldn't be Austyn if he didn't love all of those things just the same :) I am looking forward to seeing how he grows and what becomes his favorite things!

The Bronco head on the wall was a print-off that we put on an overhead projecter sheet and projected on to the wall. Isaac then stenciled around it and we painted! Took some time, but it was well worth it!

Green Thumb?

Ok. It's my first try at this, but I am truly excited to attempt our first garden.

Isaac recently began the labor-intensive job of tearing out the old wood fence (complete with barbwire... yuck!) and designed a rustic-looking metal fence that I LOVE! I am not much of a "metal worker" but did try to help. I only came away with one injury- flat metal to my shin... it swelled up like those bumps you see on cartoons! But it's healing fast and I can't complain.

It's fun to learn more about what he does... welding is crazy amazing! I have so many ideas for projects we can do around the house (none of which can be considered DIY since they are all "Make Isaac do"), but I'll still include them in my blog!

What we are planting this year:

Valmaine Lettuce
Bambino and Heinz Tomatoes
Minature Bell Peppers
Broccoli
Onions
Pumpkins
Cube of Butter Squash
Cucumber
Sunflowers
Pizza Peppers

One of my co-workers suggested www.territorialseed.com so that is where I ordered seeds and live plants from this year. I will see if next year I just need to buy more locally.

In the fall:
Daffodil bulbs
Tulip bulbs

We also planted a Honey Crisp Apple Tree- not sure if he will be able to withstand the Hayden environment, though!

Fishing for Pike

The state park recently started stalking Pike at a local pond near Hayden. We have been enjoying many little trips out there to fish. Last week our friends Danny & Mindy and their little boy Lleyton (almost 2!) went with. The boys had a wonderful time throwing rocks in the water and exploring. Austyn said he was "scaring the fish to dad, so he could catch them!"

It's almost Spring!
